North of the Narrows Fire District was established in 1994. If you own property on the east side of Priest Lake from Bear Creek to the Sandpiper Shores neighborhoods, you are a member of the North of the Narrows Fire District and receive fire protection services from NNFD. In addition to fire protection, your stay at the lake has been made safer by the development of an emergency landing zone just off East Shore Road that can accommodate medical evacuations by helicopter.

I am a Fireman. I have been so probably since I was born, or at least as long as I can remember. I began Volunteering when I was 16 years old and have been basically actively Volunteering, and even being paid occasionally, since that time. I am extremely passionate about helping others and my Community, and I feel like this is the absolute best way to go about that passion.
I came to Huckleberry Bay from Medford, Oregon. It was just the alignment of the stars, or planets, or chance, or fate, or whatever. I submitted my resume to NNFD because we wanted to raise our family in a rural, picturesque place, and you guys hired me! It has been a long 5 years, but I am here as the Fire Chief, the realization of a life-long goal, and I am honored to serve in that role. Thank you for the opportunity to serve. Volunteers Make It Happen!
Our volunteers are the reason for our continued success and provide the critically needed extra help during the summer. The NNFD provides training to volunteers year-round: weekly during spring/summer, and monthly training the rest of the year. The service of our dedicated staff and volunteers does not go unnoticed.
2026 Training begins Saturday, May 2rd, and is every Saturday through August 30 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the fire station, or as designated.
