North of the Narrows Fire District takes great pride in serving our community. We'd like to thank our Life Flight instructor, Dustin Waterby, the flight crew nurse, paramedic, and pilot for an outstanding training session. Highlights included helicopter/landing zone safety and emergency procedures, when to launch a copter, location of the call, "hot" loading a stretcher with volunteers, rotor guard, and ground contact radio procedures. Many thanks to East Priest Lake FD, Coolin/Cavanaugh Bay FD, West Priest Lake FD, Priest Lake Ambulance, Idaho State Park Rangers and our own wonderful volunteer firefighters for making this train session a great success!
NNFD and Priest Lake Ambulance are the only two agencies at Priest Lake that have the equipment and training necessary to execute an ice rescue. This year's NNFD ice rescue training was held February 2-3 and was well attended. Our sincere thanks go to our outstanding Idaho State Ice Rescue Instructor, Marcella Reed, from Fernwood Fire Protection District. We also appreciate the support and participation of our own NNFD volunteers, our neighboring fire districts from West Priest Lake, East Priest Lake, and our Idaho State Park Rangers from Indian Creek and Lionshead. We had a fun, informative weekend filled with excellent classroom instruction and practical training on the ice. Thanks to NNFD Chief Scott Robinson for orchestrating this life-saving training, Sarah Robinson for providing delicious lunches from Falls Inn and the Mooseknuckle, and everyone who attended for making this training a huge success.
